Subject: Balance, not just karate .. balance, whole life.
I have to agree with Don Juan. The mix on this is not great. Not only are the vocals 'distant' but I think the bass is too strong. It almost sounds like the mics were on the floor. Did you ever sit on the floor when everyone else was standing? Goodbye trebel, hello heavy bass. That's what this reminds me of.

If you want a comparison, open up two browsers. One with this show, one with 4/20/84. Go back and forth with NO eq settings. I have been unable to find a better AUD recording better that 4/20/84 and I use it as my measuring stick.

Now, of course, this doesn't eliminate this show as a worthy download. Like most shows there is nothing a little eq tweak won't fix. And I also noticed somwthing else. No matter how bad a recording is , as you listen to it and concentrate on the music, your brain will 'adjust' or 'compensate' for irregularities.

I haven't listened to the whole show so I can't comment on the music, but I'll give the sound a 3. It does have power. Just lacks balance.

Subject: Fabulous Show. I Danced All Night.
Just a great, great show. Lottsa energy and lottsa fun. I was totally worn out by the end of the evening, bouncing up and down the side mezzanine. Scarlet through Eyes felt like it went on forever. One of my favorite versions of Scarlet > Fire. And - no OMSN or R&R in the second set. My kinda night !!!
Regarding the AUD sound quality, I am a dead serious critic. I find the recording very, very good. It's not 15th row center (god knows I wish they were ALL like that) but, sounds more like just in front of the SBD. It has a touch of air to it, with that distance from the stage. If you tweek your EQ a bit, you will be extremely happy.
I also love this period for the band. They are well practiced, tight, and Jerry is still in reasonably good voice.
Thank you again Mr. Glassberg.

Subject: What are you guys talking about
Is it me or is every person who reviewed the recording of this show totally missing a very important point. The voices are not mixed properly. They sound way off in the distant. It's not supposed to be like that. They should be balanced with the instruments and they are clearly not. I'm not a sound technician but I know what a good quality recording is. This IS a great show but the voices are not balanced correctly. Please, someone correct me if I'm wrong about this. It's just that I'm so used to the 70's recording where the voices and instruments were evenly balanced and booming. A lot of the 70's shows were killer recordings. This one in particular is not and this needs to be made clear and corrected.

Subject: superb audience recording
If all audience recordings sounded this good there would be a heck of a lot less pissing and moaning about the soundboards being pulled from the archive. This is a mighty fine sounding recording and an even better played show. Barry Glassberg did a super job capturing this show. I swear there are several moments when you think this is a sbd. I have a sbd of the 2nd set and I think I may prefer this to the board. 5 star show for sure.

Subject: Impeccable
This is a great example of my preference for AUDs. It also is a great example of a solid, solid show. I love this period for the band. Anyone who likes this era, and a great AUD, look no further.

Subject: This is an AUD recording?!?
The quality of this show is absolutely amazing. I can't believe it's an AUD recording. The show itself is above amazing. Great Fire On The Mountain, and nice Cassidy, too. Most definitely a 5 star show.
